What a Week!

Wow! We just completed a week of 12 games in 6 days with games in Midvale, Glendale, Sandy, Taylorsville, Tooele, Orem and Alpine. It was quite a ride

Hannah's team did really awesome considering their competition. As usual, they destroyed the team they played in their Thursday night league, but then played in a tournament in Orem against players much, much more experienced than them. They were expected to get pounded, like they did in Tooele last month, but they were quite competitive in their four losses. In fact, the game against the team regarded as the best in the 10 & under age group was tied going into the last inning. Hannah never got on base but laid down a bunt to knock in a run on a perfectly executed squeeze play.

Her last game was more of a practice game as they played a 12 & under team and got waxed. The girls on the other team were so big our girls didn't know what to do. They just stood and watched every pitch. Probably a bit more than they could chew for an 8 & under team.

Connor's team finally came together and had a fantastic week. With the team underacieving so far this year, the coach put his foot down and basically told the kids if they are not ready to play, they will come out of the game instantly. He told them the time for screwing around and not focusing during the game is over. It was the wake-up call they needed.

They went 5-1 during the week incuding two come from behind wins in the final inning, one from 4 runs down, the other from 2 runs down. The team is slowly climbing the standings in their weekday league but are undefeated in four games in their weekend league.

Connor has been struggling as of late, but it's not for a lack of trying. Saturday in Tooele, they played on a field with no fences. The player a few batters before Connor hit one that rolled forever. Because of this the opposing coach had all his outfielders play really, really deep. When Connor came to bat, he hit a shot like we've never seen. If the outfield was playing where they were before the other kid, Connor's hit would have easily been at least a triple. Instead it was a long out. He did have a key double in one win but it just seems every time he hits the ball, it is right at another player.

This week doesn't have as many games, but Friday the 15th will be Connor's big night at the Bees game. The game starts at 6:30 so Connor's first pitch should be around that time. If you're coming, don't be late.
